The Madibeng Centre for Research (MCR) is a South African Not for Profit organization (NPO) in the field of applied health research. It was established in 2001 as an independent trust and functions as a private-public partnership. MCR is based in Brits, the main town of the Madibeng sub-district in the North West Province, 50 kilometers outside of Pretoria. MCR is seeking to appoint candidates for the following position:

POSITION: Senior Research Physician/Investigator
Research Physician/Investigator

Core Functions and Purpose of the Role :
– Conduct clinical trials as Principal Investigator or Sub-investigator
– Ensure ICH GCP and all local guidelines are met
– Recruit eligible participants into studies
– Consent participants
– Clinical management of participants as per protocols
– Liaising with clients
– Attend sponsor training
– Laboratory result reviews
– Read and interpret ECGs
– Read and interpret CXRs
– Answer monitoring and data queries
– Assist with periodic review of SOPs and writing new SOPs as needed
– Assist with Source document preparation
– Assist with data and source QC activities and ensure all Data queries are handled
– Taking responsibility for reporting all adverse and Serious Adverse Events
– Assist with Community Engagement activities and general community education, as required
– Provide training to colleagues
– Medical oversight of the study/studies
– Participation in audits (as PI for study)

Expected areas of competence:
– Be a registered doctor with MBChB and preferably with some previous research experience or demonstrate a strong interest in clinical research
– Current HPCSA registration
– Have a working knowledge of ICH GCP
– Follow study protocols and SOPs at all times
– Exercise meticulous attention to detail in recording patient information and data ensuring any queries are acted in a timely and efficient manner
– Ensure all study documentation is completed, signed off and action are completed
– Maintain a professional attitude towards colleagues and participants
– Communicate all decisions and actions with your colleagues, demonstrating a helpful and flexible approach
– Demonstrate proactive behaviour to optimise use of time
– Take ownership for own professional development by staying breast of medical literature
