DA call for submissions on Bill to end ‘conversion therapy’ on children

The Democratic Alliance’s Siviwe Gwarube has called for written submissions on the proposed contents of a Children’s Amendment Bill that would seek to “provide for the prohibition of conversion therapy on children”. Gazetted as an explanatory summary of the legislation envisaged, the notice concerned refers to conversion therapy as a ‘pseudo-science approach’ to ‘curing children of homosexuality’. The Bill would make this an offence.
