False qualification Gauteng doctors fired

Organisation: Position: Deadline Date: Location:

Two doctors who lied about their medical qualifications have been dismissed by the Gauteng Health Department. City Press reports that the doctors were among 10 employees who were found to have falsified their qualifications.

Health department spokesperson Prince Hamnca said the fraudulent qualifications were uncovered as part of the ongoing employee qualifications verification process. “The details of these cases were disclosed by Gauteng Health MEC Qedani Mahlangu,” said Hamnca.

Hamnca explained that eight officials, including two doctors, had been dismissed. “There is sufficient case law to warrant the department, and employers in general, to take strong action against employees who are not entirely honest during the employment selection process,” he added.
