FP to press ahead with ‘different science’ Bill

Organisation: Position: Deadline Date: Location:

IFP MP Mario Oriani-Ambrosini’s has committed suicide, reports the [s]Mail&Guardian[/s]. He had rejected chemotherapy as a treatment option for lung cancer, ‘as it would extend his life expectancy by only a few months and would cause severe side-effects. He had [instead] opted to pursue treatment based on “different science”.’

Oriani-Ambrosini earlier this year introduced legislation calling for recognition of alternative therapies in cancer treatment, as well as for the decriminalisation of marijuana for medicinal purposes. The IFP has promised that Oriani-Ambrosini’s death won’t be in vain. According to an [s]IOL[/s] report, IFP MPs will be putting forward suggestions to Parliament to press on with his legislative amendments and proposals.
