In a four-part brief series, Anton van Dalsen reviews the National Health Insurance Bill (NHI Bill). The briefs are based on a submission made by the Helen Suzman Foundation (HSF) to Parliament in November 2019 on the NHI Bill.
Part I sets out the current situation in the health sector and how the NHI proposes to change it. Part II deals with the lack of detail that has been provided on crucial aspects of the proposed NHI and its financing. Part III explores the State's ability to manage such a project and Part IV contains a summary of the HSF's conclusions.
