Misdiagnosis victim waits

A Rustenburg mother of four who won a lawsuit against the Limpopo Health MEC for malpractice has yet to be paid, notes a [s]Saturday Star[/s] report. Estelle Kunneke reportedly said she was still waiting for the state to pay her the R2.8m owed to her following a medical negligence case dating back to 2005. The North Gauteng High Court had ordered the department to pay Kunneke the settlement amount as well as her legal fees after she was misdiagnosed with breast cancer. The former estate agent underwent a double mastectomy and endured months of chemotherapy after being told she had stage IV breast carcinoma in both her breasts.
