The Special Investigations Unit (SIU) has obtained a court order halting the pension pay-out of a former head of the National Health Laboratory Service (NHLS), Netwerk24 report.
The SIU applied for the order against former CEO Joyce Mogale, who was found guilty in May last year in a disciplinary hearing of gross misconduct relating to irregular appointments and contracting with several service providers.
The SIU and NHLS also launched a claim of R236m in damages against Mogale and other senior officials. The Gauteng High Court (Pretoria) has ordered Alexander Forbes as administrator of Mogale’s pension fund not to make any payments until the damages claim is concluded.
