A doctor in the UK has been charged with 118 sexual offences, according to Scotland Yard.
The Independent reports that Manish Shah, a GP from east London, is accused of multiple sex crimes, including one count of sexual assault on a child under the age of 13. The 47-year-old is also facing 52 allegations of sexual assault and 65 counts of assault by penetration, police said.
Police did not release any further details about the nature of the allegations or the alleged victims, the report said.
Shah was first suspended for four months by the General Medical Council in August 2014 – a year after unspecified 'interim conditions' were placed on him – but his suspension has been extended on a annual basis since.
He is now listed on NHS Choices as working one day a week at North Avenue Surgery in Southend-on-Sea, Essex, although none of the charges relate to his time there and the surgery's records have not been updated in nearly three years.
Police began an investigation into Shah, from Romford, after several people came to police with allegations in July and August 2013.
He is due to appear on bail on Thursday, 31 August at Barkingside Magistrates' Court.
Neighbours of Shah, who lives on an estate in Romford where homes cost upwards of £800,000, said he was 'well respected' before the allegations surfaced.
