WC Health could face claims

The Western Cape Department of Health could be exposed to damages claims from numerous patients treated by a Cameroonian man in local hospitals for at least six years, after he allegedly stole the identity of a medical doctor.

The [s]Weekend Argus[/s] reports that the department is to review records of all his patients to determine whether their safety was compromised, to inform them of the incident, and advise them of their rights. Even though the man is, in fact, a doctor, the department says he overstated his qualifications on his CV, was never registered with the Health Professions Council of SA, and misdiagnosed some of patients.
