Mpox cases rise to 28 in SA

The National Health Department has announced that three new cases of mpox have been confirmed in South Africa – all from Ekurhuleni.

The first case, a 30-year-old male, was diagnosed with the virus after recently travelling to Uganda, reports eNCA.

Twenty-eight cases, including three deaths, have been recorded in the country since last May.

While the risk of widespread transmission is considered low, authorities have urged people with symptoms – especially if they have recently visited affected regions – to seek medical attention.
