Fake doctor charged with assault, kidnapping after botched op

A Massachusetts woman is facing multiple charges after impersonating a doctor and performing plastic surgery on a woman who has been left permanently scarred.

People reports that Dingrui Wang (34) allegedly performed a double eyelid blepharoplasty procedure in January 2020 after representing herself as a licensed physician, despite not holding a Massachusetts physician’s license.

She allegedly injected a local anaesthetic and non-FDA-approved dermal fillers into the victim’s eyelids during the procedure, causing permanent scarring.

After the surgery on the first eyelid, the victim had attempted to leave the building but was pushed back on to the table by Wang and prevented from leaving until the procedure was completed.

Court papers said the victim experienced “extreme pain”.

District Attorney Kevin Hayden said Wang claimed, on a loan application to a money-lending agency, that she held aesthetician, massage therapist and hair salon licences, and received a $37 379 loan while the licenses were suspended.

Wang faces four counts of assault and battery with a dangerous weapon, one count of assault and battery with a dangerous weapon causing serious injury, one count of kidnapping, and two counts of larceny over $1 200 by false pretence.

She has also been charged with unauthorised practise of medicine and improper use of the title of physician and receiving payment for a surgical procedure based on that misrepresentation,

She was to appear at a bail hearing this week.
