Doctor guilty of R2.25m RAF fraud

An Eastern Cape doctor has been found guilty on fraud and corruption charges, notes a News24 report. Tony Moodley (66) appeared in the Specialised Commercial Crime Court in Port Elizabeth for sentencing on a charge of fraud and corruption amounting to about R2.25m.

Investigations showed that Moodley claimed to have treated 83 people a days after a bus accident in Port Elizabeth in June 2007. Moodley forwarded the claim to the Road Accident Fund through his attorneys in respect of the passengers.

The case was postponed to 19 April 2021 for sentencing.
