Jail for nurse who r aped unconscious patients

A UK nurse who filmed himself raping unconscious patients behind curtains in a busy A&E, has been jailed for 18 years after admitting carrying out 27 horrific attacks. The Daily Telegraph reports that Andrew Hutchinson exploited his position as a senior nurse at Oxford's John Radcliffe hospital in order to take advantage of women who were under anaesthetic.

The appalling attacks took place just yards from where other members of staff were working in the busy A&E unit, but Hutchinson filmed the rapes and stored them on his phone and laptop. He admitted raping two women and also spying on others, sometimes using medical cameras stolen from the hospital.

Oxford Crown Court had heard how he also spied on women and young girls as they got changed at a local leisure centre and how he had taken advantage of his position as a volunteer paramedic at a local music festival to grope women who had passed out in the First Aid tent.

Judge Ian Pringle QC, recorder of Oxford, ordered that Hutchinson should serve an extended licence period of seven years after he is released from prison.
