Bogus doctors nabbed for selling fraudulent certificates

Two people were arrested for impersonating medical doctors and fraudulently issuing medical certificates to the public. They will appear in the Germiston Magistrate’s Court on charges of fraud and contravening the Health Professions Act.

The joint operation involved the Health Professions Council of South Africa's (HPCSA) Inspectorate, Ekurhuleni East Organised Crime Unit, the Flying Squad and Community Active Security, reports News24.

The HPCSA believes that working with law enforcement agencies, other regulatory bodies, and the public is a collective responsibility to ensure that illegal practitioners are exposed, reported and prosecuted.
