Clinics operating on a 24-hour basis should have in-sourced security, with surveillance cameras and panic buttons, Denosa President Simon Hlungwani says, calling on government to urgently upgrade security at these facilities after the recent rape of two night-shift nurses at Limpopo’s Chuene Clinic.
SABC News reports that at the union’s recent three-day provincial congress in Benoni, Hlungwani said better security and surveillance was vital to monitor movement in and out of the clinics.
“We call on the government to in-source services… for improved control of security officers … We need the clinic to have a panic button that is responsive and talking to the police.”
