An osteopath branded “one of London’s most prolific voyeurs” and who secretly filmed and photographed up to 2 000 women as they undressed, showered and engaged in sexual acts, has been jailed for more than eight years in England.
The 64-year-old Danish man amassed the footage at his clinic north-east London, as well as at beaches, footpaths, bus stops and Tube stations for more than a decade, and will now spend three years and five months behind bars after admitting eight counts of voyeurism.
The Telegraph reports that father-of-one Torben Stig Hersborg boasted a celebrity client list, none of whom is thought to have been victims.
Hersborg’s crimes were revealed when a member of the public called the police in December last year after spotting him crawling around in the back seat of his Lexus parked outside university accommodation in north London.
Officers found him wearing black gloves, sitting on top of black plastic bags and in possession of a telescopic lens and video camera.
After his arrest, investigators found thousands of photos and videos on devices in his possession, including images of women undressing and two of women while they were having sex.
He also had sophisticated equipment to zoom in and covertly film topless women at the beach, and the court heard that between 2016 and 2024, he used a long- lens camera to film naked and half-naked women showering, in their bedrooms and engaging in sexual acts.
The victims could not be identified from the images, the Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) said.
Alex Weichselbaum, from the CPS, said: “Hersborg operated in plain sight for too long and, having targeted thousands of women over 12 years, we believe the scale and significance of his offending makes him one of London’s most prolific voyeurs.”
The charges covered at least 2 117 incidents between March 2012 and November last year, with most of the charges relating to him “recording a person doing a private act”.
He also admitted at least 86 incidents of upskirting between November 2019 and August last year.
The judge imposed a sexual harm prevention order, which will stop Hersborg carrying a camera or telescopic lens in public when he is released from prison.
Hersborg is the founder and owner of Central London Osteopathy & Sports Clinic in Old Street, central London.
