Credited with transforming Khayelitsha’s health systems, Dr Giovanni Perez may now have SA’s toughest health job – as district manager of the Eastern Cape’s [b]OR Tambo Health[/b], one of the country’s worst performing health districts, says a [s]Daily Dispatch[/s] report. According to the latest [b]District Health Barometer[/b] by the [b]Health Systems Trust[/b], OR Tambo has some of the highest rates of stillbirths, early infant deaths and infant HIV infections in the country. Perez is hoping his administrative experience will help him get the basics right again.
