In the 1 March 2023 edition of MedicalBrief, an IOL report incorrectly stated that Dr Shankar Chetty was found guilty by the Health Professions Council of South Africa (HSPCA) in connection with his treatment methods for Covid-19 patients. However, while Chetty has been charged by the HPCSA, the matter is still being investigated and no verdict has been reached.
