COVID-19: Lockdown Level 4 regulations amended

Amendments have been made to COVID-19 adjusted disaster management lockdown level four sub-regulations affecting accommodation establishments, the closure of schools and the transportation of liquor, reports Legalbrief. Gazetted this week, they confirm that hotels, lodges, timeshare facilities, resorts, guest houses and bed-and-breakfasts may operate at full capacity in terms of rooms available for accommodation.

The amended sub-regulation on liquor transportation allows it to be moved from manufacturing plants to storage facilities; and from any licensed premises for safe-keeping. Although state-run schools will close today (Wednesday) until 19 July, according to a new ministerial directive this does not apply to any contact classes arranged for learners in Grades 11 and 12 as part of the winter vacation support programme. Independent schools will also close for contact classes today – but for two weeks.
