Damages because twisted foot puts woman in 'daily danger'

A 20-year-old woman, whose right foot was severely damaged at birth in a state hospital, has won R2m in compensation in the Gauteng High Court (Pretoria). According to a Rapport, Nthabiseng Kekana said in her court papers her twisted foot continues to place her in daily danger as she cannot flee from potential attackers and robbers.

Kekana was born in the FH Odendaal Hospital in Modimolle where staff botched the insertion of an intravenous drip in her foot. The court ordered the Limpopo Health Department to pay her the damages.
