A 40-year-old medical doctor was to appear in an East London court this week after being arrested on Friday at King Phalo Airport for possession of an unlicensed gun and 59 rounds of ammunition, reports AlgoaFM.
Police said the man had been booked on a flight to Cape Town. The gun was seized, and ballistic testing will determine whether it may have been used in the commission of other crimes.
