The chronic shortage of emergency vehicles in Gauteng will be bolstered shortly when the province receives 255 new ambulances, to be distributed across all municipalities, with special emphasis on townships, reports EWN.
“We have 535 wards in the province to be serviced by our expanded ambulance fleet,” said Health MEC Nomantu Nkomo-Ralehoko. “Each vehicle will be attached to a township and informal settlement. Each ward must have its own ambulance, doctor and nurse.”
