Licence suspension for doctor who said Covid vax ‘magnetised people’

An American osteopath has had her licence indefinitely suspended by the State Medical Board of Ohio after failure to co-operate with an investigation into public comments she made about the Covid-19 vaccines in 2021, including that they could “cause people to become magnetised” or create “an interface with 5G towers”.

To reinstate her licence, Sherri Tenpenny would have to meet certain conditions – paying a fine of $3 000 and submitting an application for reinstatement, reports MedPage Today.

The board had launched an investigation after it received “approximately 350 complaints” about Tenpenny’s comments, but it was claimed she never co-operated, even after multiple attempts to contact her, both in person and via e-mail.

Tenpenny, author of Saying No to Vaccines, has stood by her testimony, which included other false claims including that more than 5 000 people had died in the United States as a result of the vaccines.

She later claimed she was unaware of any requests to contact her.

After several more attempts to communicate with her, investigators received a letter from her attorney saying she would not respond, and that “(d)eclining to co-operate in the Board’s bad faith and unjustified assault on her licensure, livelihood, and constitutional rights cannot be construed as an admission of any allegations against her”.

After several more attempts to question her between September 2021 and 2022, the state medical board issued a citation to Tenpenny for her failure to co-operate with its investigation.

She requested an administrative hearing, in April 2023, at which she submitted her defence in writing. However, the board decided to suspend her licence for not complying with repeated attempts to question her.

Licensees “cannot simply refuse to co-operate in investigations because they decide they do not like what they assume is the reason for the investigation”.

Several other doctors have been accused of spreading misinformation about Covid-19 vaccines, with some recently facing disciplinary action.
