The National Health Laboratory Service (NHLS) has rebuilt and restored parts of its critical IT infrastructure and systems that were disabled by the recent cyber attack, with some services back online, beginning with academic and larger labs countrywide.
Laboratory registration, results processing and reporting via the Laboratory Information System are functioning again, meaning patients’ results can now be obtained online through the NHLS Laboratory Web Results Viewer, reports the Cape Times.
“Bringing the Laboratory Information System back online is expected to significantly reduce the pressure and backlogs,” the NHLS said.
Police are investigating a cyber attack after the breach in June, which compromised the systems and infrastructure.
