An unregistered doctor, who was also found to be selling schedule four, five and six medicines, was arrested in Pietermaritzburg this week after a random inspection by the Health Professions Council of South Africa (HPCSA) and police.
HPCSA spokesperson Christopher Tsatsawane said the man had been detained by SAPS and his “infraction relating to the issuing of scheduled medicines has been referred to the South African Health Products Regulatory Authority”, reports TimesLIVE.
“Registered practitioners are warned to refrain from employing unregistered persons. Bogus practitioners are breaking the law and putting the health of the public at risk,” said Tsatsawane.
