An East London doctor, arrested by the Hawks in a joint operation with SARS and the National Prosecuting Authority (NPA), was granted R10 000 bail on Monday for allegedly defrauding the SA Revenue Service of more than R1.8m.
TimesLIVE reports that Karunlingam Chetty is accused of under-declaring his income between 2015 and 2018, according to Hawks spokesperson Captain Yolisa Mgolodela.
The case was remanded to 19 September for a regional court date to be set.
