Mediator denies Bayer is to pay out $8bn for Roundup claims

Organisation: Position: Deadline Date: Location:

Bayer AG has not proposed paying $8bn to settle all US claims related to the Roundup herbicide, mediator Ken Feinberg is quoted in Reuters Health as saying. “Such a statement is pure fiction,” Feinberg said. “Compensation has not even been discussed in the global mediation discussions.”

Bayer acquired Roundup and other glyphosate-based weedkillers through its $63bn takeover of Monsanto last year. The report says it has faced a wide array of litigation over Roundup’s alleged cancer risks.

Bloomberg had made the settlement claim.
