The state has seized vehicles, a commercial stand and other valuable properties sourced through proceedings of the now-defunct Life Esidimeni, reports News24.
The NPA’s Asset Forfeiture Unit (AFU) pounced on businessman Kishan Jawarharlal in the early hours last Friday (6 August) at a Waterkloof property in Pretoria, armed with a restraint order on Kish Gas and its director Jawarharlal to secure assets of those accused of siphoning R5m intended for Life Esidimeni.
News24 notes that the original address had been found abandoned and team had finally traced Jawaharlal to another address in Waterkloof. Among the seized assets were several vehicles, including luxury SUVs, a commercial stand with industrial generators and equipment with substantial resale value.
On 22 July, the Gauteng High Court (Johannesburg) had granted a provisional order to restrain more than R3.5m in assets after an application by the AFU.
