Beating AIDS

Two years after being appointed CEO of the SA National Aids Council (Sanac), Dr Fareed Abdullah is still working towards his vision of turning around the epidemic, reports the [s]Cape Argus[/s].

His hope comes from the fact that in SA there are more than 2.5m people on antiretroviral treatment. ‘That offers huge hope – but the dark side of the story is that we still have hundreds of thousands of new infections every year. We have not broken the cycle of new infections. That’s the big challenge.’
