CCTV footage shows alleged murderers of Dr George Koboka

CCTV footage shows the events around the murder of Soweto GP Dr George Koboka at his surgery.

CCTV footage shows a group of men entering Dr George Koboka’s surgery last Friday (25 March), walking past the waiting patients to his office, and then entering his consulting room to shoot him while panicked patients run out.

In the video, reports News24, a masked man in a blue hat sanitises his hands before walking into the surgery, followed by another in a yellow shirt, and one in blue pants. The fourth man, wearing a mask, is seen lingering outside.

Inside the surgery, the man in the blue hat speaks to the receptionists and then passes the waiting patients and walks to the doctor’s office. The man in the yellow shirt closes the door and also walks towards the doctor’s office, reaching for something under his shirt.

The accomplice in blue assumes guards the door, and prevents people from going inside. The other two enter inside the doctor’s office. Patients run out of the surgery and one ducks under the receptionist’s desk.

The man in the yellow shirt leaves the doctor’s office, gun in hand, followed by the man in the blue hat and they run outside where the masked man joins them and they all flee.

Koboka's murder comes a week after a group of men invaded his surgery and robbed patients of their cellphones.

Police spokesperson Colonel Mavela Masondo said three people – aged 23, 28 and 33 – had been arrested for the murder and one formally charged: two were released after they could not be linked to the crime.
