A hospital in Denver, Colorado, has been ordered to pay a spine surgery patient almost R3.2m after he accused AdventHealth Porter staff of dropping him after surgery, reports the Denver Post.
The 82-year-old man alleged that he was dropped when staff tried moving him from a CT scanner platform to a bed, the report said. He had a spinal fusion at the hospital in March 2024 and filed his lawsuit in February.
The fall fractured his spine and required an additional surgery, court papers said.
A statement from AdventHealth Porter said: “Patient safety remains a top priority, and we are committed to providing safe, compassionate whole-person care to everyone we serve.”
