Amid escalating measles infections in the province, the Gauteng Department of Health is ramping up its vaccination campaign for children aged between six months and 15-years-old, after confirming 15 cases in the region.
News24 reports that the most recent case was in Tembisa last week: Ekurhuleni has eight infections, the Tshwane district four, Johannesburg has two, and West Rand just one confirmed case.
The department is also rolling out vaccinations to early childhood centres (ECDs) and schools where parents must sign consent for immunisation.
So far, the department has vaccinated 43 000 children.
