Ivermectin suspects detained at ORT in custody pending NPA decision

Five suspects who were nabbed at OR Tambo International airport – in separate incidents – after they were found with R6m worth of unregistered medicine have appeared before the Kempton Magistrate's Court – the matter was postponed to Wednesday and Thursday for the outcome of a decision by the National Prosecuting Authority (NPA).

This, notes a News24 report, comes after SARS Customs and Excise officials apprehended foreign nationals entering South Africa with R6m worth of tablets suspected to be Ivermectin.

An earlier statement by the SAPS indicated that six people from India were arrested. Five suspects appeared in court, three of whom are due back in court tomorrow with the other two due back in court on Thursday. All five are in custody.
