A Limpopo nurse’s refusal to attend to a sick child landed her in hot water, with Health MEC Phophi Ramathuba launching an investigation after the child’s mother had to wait more than 90 minutes for attention.
In a video posted on social media, the frustrated mother was seen shouting at the nurse at Maake Clinic in Tzaneen for refusing to help her sick child, and for making them wait an hour and a half while she talked on the phone.
The nurse can be heard saying she would not assist the mother because she was on the phone with another patient, reports TimesLIVE.
Ramathuba said the department was ashamed of the incident. “It was uncalled for. We met the nurse and …reprimanded her.”
The nurse subsequently apologised to the mother.
