Maternal, Adolescent & Child Health Institute NPC, (MatCH) is a non-profit organization supporting public sector health services. MatCH implements donor funded projects to improve HIV and TB outcomes through providing technical assistance and direct service delivery support. MatCH Institute NPC is looking to fill the following Position under the APACE Grant 

Location: Harry Gwala District ( KwaZulu Natal  Province )   

Duration of Contract:  Fixed term ending 30 September 2023

Medical Officer   x 1 – (Ref: 533) 

Main Purpose of the Job

The incumbent will be responsible for providing service delivery and technical support for HIV/TB, at public health care facilities supported by MatCH. The role includes providing training and on-site mentoring to Department of Health staff, clinical reviews and case management. 

Key Performance Areas

  • Provide care and treatment to clients in the HIV and TB programmes at primary healthcare facilities and via teleconsulting.
  • Provide clinical and adherence support to clients with treatment failure in the HIV and TB programmes.
  • Review and diagnostic support of chest radiographs of paediatric clients conducted by Mobile X-Ray team.
  • Provide training and on-site mentoring to DOH staff.
  • District wide Clinical chart audits.
  • Review ACC clinical data and provide technical assistance.
  • Any other assigned duties associated with the role.

Required minimum education and training.

  • MBBCh degree or equivalent

 Professional body registration

  • Registration with the HPCSA
  • Must have Medical Protection Cover

 Minimum work experience

  • 2 years’ work-related experience.

Desirable additional education, work experience and personal abilities

  • Experience/knowledge in Primary Health care/ community health HIV and AIDS.
  • Certification in HIV.
  • Strong counselling skills.
  • Good organisational and administrative skills.
  • Ability to handle a varied, busy and pressurized workload with competing demands on time.
  • Self-motivated, able to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Proven communication skills
  • Good interpersonal skills
  • Valid Driver’s License
  • Willingness and ability to travel as and when required
  • Available to commence work immediately
