Woman arrested for running bogus nursing colleges

A woman accused of running bogus nursing colleges and registering unsuspecting students under the pretext that they would acquire diplomas, was arrested last weekend in Johannesburg after being on the run for five years.

“She managed to evade arrest and had been on the run since 2017 after fleeing to Nigeria,” Limpopo police spokesperson Brigadier Motlafela Mojapelo said, adding that she was due to appear in the Makhado Magistrate’s Court this week.

News24 reports that the students had also been promised employment after completing their diplomas.

Cases were opened in Polokwane, Morebeng, Thohoyandou, Waterval in Limpopo, and parts of Gauteng, Mojapelo said.
