Much to their surprise, when scientists did full-body CT scans of 4,000-year-old mummies they discovered evidence of hardening of the arteries. 'Atherosclerosis is supposed to be a disease of modern civilisation,' said Prof Adel Allam, a nuclear cardiologist at [b]Al Azhar University in Cairo[/b]. Allam and his colleagues presented their findings at the just-concluded [b]American College of Cardiology[/b] annual meeting.
