Forensic pathology staff protest conditions

Health workers at Rustenburg’s Forensic Pathology Unit downed tools at the beginning of this week, saying their health was at risk due to the lab’s non-compliance with occupational health and safety requirements.

Employees told eNCA they are forced to work without PPE, even while performing autopsies.

Hospersa North West chairperson Ramalau Rammutla added that fridges sometimes break down, causing bodies to begin decomposing.
