Four people have been arrested after assaulting and robbing staff at Carolina Provincial Hospital in Mpumalanga earlier this month, after which they ransacked the department and left a trail of destruction in their wake.
Police spokesperson Brigadier Selvy Mohlala said the “outrageous behaviour” occurred after a man was brought to hospital, but later died of gunshot wounds.
“The people who had brought him in then went on the rampage … assaulting and robbing staff, and vandalising equipment and property.”
Mohlala said the Anti-Gang Unit had arrested the four men and recovered a cellphone that had been stolen during the attack, reports News24.
The gang has been charged with malicious damage to property, business robbery, and possession of stolen property.
