Kidnapped Eastern Cape biokineticist back home

A biokineticist from the Eastern Cape who was apparently kidnapped outside a medical practice by armed men nearly two weeks ago has been reunited with her family, police have confirmed.

Riana Pretorius was reportedly abducted outside a medical practice in Gqeberha when she arrived for work in the morning, and forced into a car by three armed men. Reports emerged that a ransom demand had been made to her family.

HeraldLIVE reports Pretorius was returned to her family, unhurt, in the early hours of last Friday after being dropped off at a garage at 2am.

The National Prosecuting Authority confirmed a man had been arrested. Xolisile Rawutini was provisionally charged with unlawful possession of a firearm and ammunition at a brief court appearance during which he was remanded in custody.
