Man sues hospital for $1bn after watching wife’s C-section

An Australian man has sued a hospital for $1bn for letting him watch his wife give birth by Caesarean in 2018, saying it triggered a “psychotic illness” and led to the breakdown of his marriage.

Anil Koppula has sued the Royal Women’s Hospital in Melbourne for damages after alleging that he was “encouraged, or permitted, to observe the delivery …that he saw his wife’s internal organs and blood… that the hospital breached a duty of care it owed to him and is liable to pay him damages”, reports The Independent.

However, the hospital has denied breaching a “duty of care” and requested that the court proceedings be discontinued, saying Koppula did not suffer any injury as a result of his time at the facility.
