Testing for thyroid cancer

The routine use of a molecular testing panel developed at [b]University of Pittsburgh Medical Centre[/b] (UPMC) greatly increases the likelihood of performing the correct initial surgery for patients with thyroid nodules and cancer, report researchers from the [b]University of Pittsburgh Cancer Institute[/b] (UPCI). The test, available at the [b]UPMC/UPCI Multidisciplinary Thyroid Centre[/b] and other diagnostic testing agencies, improved the chances of patients getting the correct initial surgery by 30%.
