What being a dentist means for a Gen Zer

This week’s episode of Why Did I Become a Doctor features a young man who’s at the start of his journey to become a dentist. Luvaan Rooyan (19), the youngest guest yet to be featured on the show, talks about how he overcame the odds to get into dental studies, including surviving a car crash which left him with a broken spine and fractures in his dominant right hand. But Rooyan set his sights firmly on his goal, inspired by a determination to be in the medical field but also whave a balanced life – which he believes dentistry will afford him – and driven in part by a statistic he had read about dentists having the highest rate of Porsche ownership among professionals. MedicalBrief readers will get early access to the podcast. Click here to listen to Rooyan’s ‘Gen Z’ take on what it means to be a dentist.
